Arriving at Antalya Airport: A Step-by-Step Guide
Published August 26, 2026

A practical walkthrough of what to expect after landing at Antalya Airport, from passport control and baggage reclaim to finding your private transfer driver.
When your flight lands at Antalya Airport (AYT), navigating the terminal for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. Knowing what to expect stage by stage helps ensure a smooth start to your holiday on the Turkish Riviera. This guide outlines the exact steps you will take from the moment the aircraft wheels touch the tarmac to the moment you settle into your transfer vehicle.
Entering the Terminal and Passport Control
Once your aircraft has come to a halt, you will exit either via a passenger boarding bridge directly into the terminal or by a shuttle bus. Follow the flow of passengers and the overhead signs directing you towards passport control.
During the peak summer holiday season, the arrivals hall can become busy. It is helpful to have your passport open at the photo page and any necessary travel documentation ready. If you are travelling from the UK or Ireland, you do not currently require a visa for tourist visits of up to 90 days, but it is always wise to verify the latest entry requirements before you depart.
Baggage Reclaim and Customs
After clearing passport control, you will descend to the baggage reclaim hall. Large screens above the carousels display flight numbers alongside the corresponding belt number.
While you wait for your luggage, you will find toilets, currency exchange desks, and duty-free shops within this hall. Please note that exchange rates at airport desks are typically less favourable than those you will find at your final destination. Once you have collected all of your luggage, proceed through the customs exit. If you have nothing to declare, follow the green channel to exit into the public arrivals area.
Meeting Your Transfer Driver
As you exit the customs area, you will enter the main arrivals hall. This area is usually bustling with airport representatives, taxi dispatchers, and private transport drivers waiting for passengers.
If you have booked a private service with Riviera Transfers, your driver or our local representative will be waiting for you just outside the terminal exit. They will be holding a sign clearly showing your name or a specific booking reference code, which we will have confirmed with you prior to your flight.
Once you have met your driver, they will assist you with your luggage and guide you to your waiting vehicle. If you are travelling with children, please note that baby seats, child seats, and booster seats are available on request and will be added to the agreed price of your transfer to ensure a safe and compliant journey.
Your Journey Along the coast
Once your luggage is safely loaded, your journey to your accommodation begins. Your travel time and distance will depend on the resort you have chosen for your holiday.
If you are staying close to the airport, your travel time will be brief. Kundu is just 10 km from the airport and takes about 15 minutes by car. Lara is located 13 km away, taking approximately 20 minutes, while Antalya city centre is 15 km away, with a journey time of around 25 minutes. If your destination is Konyaaltı, the distance is 22 km and the drive takes about 30 minutes.
For resorts located further along the coast, the journey times are longer. Belek is 35 km away, which takes about 35 minutes by car. Kemer is situated 55 km from the airport, requiring a drive of about 55 minutes. If you are heading to the historic resort of Side, the distance is 65 km, taking around 60 minutes.
For destinations in the eastern part of the region, the drive takes you further along the main coastal highway. Avsallar is 105 km away, taking about 95 minutes. Alanya is 125 km from the airport, taking around 110 minutes, and Mahmutlar is 135 km away, with a journey time of approximately 122 minutes.
Choosing a private transfer means you will travel directly to your hotel or apartment without any intermediate stops for other passengers, allowing you to begin your holiday as quickly as possible.
